5 One-Ingredient Skincare Habits You Need To Try

Self-care should never be an afterthought, but if you’re anything like us, it feels like there are always plenty of excuses for why it falls off our list of priorities. With the uncertainty of our current environment, it more important than ever that we take the time to prioritize self-care.

Self-care can literally be ANYTHING that makes you feel more calm, grounded and at-ease.

When it comes to self-care rituals at Pearl & Dot, we are all (mildly) obsessed with skincare! So during this work-from-home situation, you can be sure to catch us with a face mask on – or at the very least, applying a cure-all facial oil.

If you’re looking for effective & natural at-home beauty remedies, try one of these one-ingredient wonders (thanks for the ideas, @thechalkboardmag). We know that we will be!

Apple Cider Vinegar Face Mask: apply unfiltered, organic apple cider vinegar to the face using a cotton swab. Leave it on for 5 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Apple cider vinegar can help to heal breakouts (we can’t be the only ones with stress acne!!), treat skin pigmentation & gently exfoliate the skin.

Avocado Wrinkle Treatment: If it’s good for us to eat, it has to be good for our skin too! Take an avocado, mash it and apply to the orbital rim (the area around your eyes) and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. This might be the least expensive anti-wrinkle eye treatment you’ll ever do!

Coconut Oil Make-Up Remover: We don’t know about you, but these days it’s a rare occasion that we’re wearing make-up. Right now, we may not need coconut oil to remove our eye makeup, but we love how this miracle oil strengthens our lashes!

Cinnamon Lip Scrub: If your lips need some love, this at-home lip scrub is a must! While you’re getting ready for bed – mix together 1 teaspoon coconut oil, 1 teaspoon raw sugar and a dash of cinnamon. Apply to your lips & scrub. The coconut oil will hydrate & heal, the raw sugar will help to exfoliate dead skin away and the cinnamon will give your lips a rosy, plump look.

Baking Soda Spot Treatment: If you are experiencing more breakouts than usual (we can relate!), try mixing baking soda into your favourite masks that you already have. Baking soda helps to clear blackheads and reduce acne.

We know that skincare won’t feel like self-care to everyone – so if it’s not your thing, try one of these easy (& free) self-care ideas: go for a walk, take a bath, make a cozy drink, call a friend, put your phone on “do not disturb” or write in a journal.

Just remember, you are so worth it! Show yourself some love & make it a priority to take time for self-care, every single day!
